a day in the Great River Valley
As the sun sets to the west and the light begins to fade, its colors are reflected in this part of the river, in the waters of pool 9, which is called Lake Winneshiek. We can begin to see the lights of Lock and Dam #9 which is located between Lynxville, Wisconsin and Harpers Ferry, Iowa. It is these many locks and dams that form these lakes within the river system, along which the railroad runs! In this case it is that which some have called "the mighty BNSF"!
